CHINS (Child In Need of Supervision)
About the Program:
Available to youth ages 12-17
Can be referred by parent/caretaker or school district, or other agency
Application/ intake process
CHINS Prevention services are provided at no charge
Case management service may include:
Intervention/education programming
Counseling
Weekly check-ins
Monitoring of school attendance/grades
Substance use reporting
Pre-CHINS is an assessment process for referral or prevention of placement of youth who:
Have not reached their 17th birthday
Are habitually absent from school or have run away from home
Habitually disobey reasonable and lawful demands of their parents
Or are ungovernable and beyond control.
